Make the connection on your college campus

The fall semester is underway, and a new school year brings new opportunities for involvement with campus ministry. Presbyterian Collegiate Connection offers a campus ministry locator, a clickable map featuring links to:

  • campus ministry programs at both public and private colleges and universities
  • chaplains at PC(USA)-related colleges and universities
  • collegiate ministries related to PC(USA) congregations

Presbyterian Collegiate Connection is a part of PC(USA) Collegiate Ministries, which support the work of over 1,300 higher education ministries serving on behalf of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). All believe colleges and universities are places “Where God Already Is."

Presbyterian campus ministries offer a wide range of experiences. At Vanderbilt University, the Presbyterian Student Fellowship will explore the theme "You will be my witnesses" through activities ranging from weekly worship to local and global mission service to fellowship activities such as whitewater rafting during this academic year. Follow the journeys of the young adults involved with the University of Arizona's Presbyterian Campus Ministry on their blog and listen to their podcast stories.

On the crest of a roller coaster at North Point Church

“It feels like we’re at the edge of a roller coaster…again.” Heidi Hartman, an elder and office manager at North Point Church remarked when reflecting on the congregation’s October ’05 decision to charter as an independent church. Since that decision was recommended by the North Point steering committee and made overwhelmingly by North Point congregants, the administrative commission formed by Seattle Presbytery has been taking assertive steps to charter the church this Spring. Northern pastor speaks language of trauma recovery in South Louisiana

BATON ROUGE —  South Louisiana Presbytery placed an ad seeking a general presbyter who, like a “Gumbo Chef,” might marry the rich, diverse flavors of their culture and theology in a unique situation.  That understatement was spiced up with a bold promise that God’s blessings and opportunities await such a person. The Rev. Dr. Alan D. Cutter entered the kitchen on July 1 eager to see God’s blessings and opportunities continue to unfold for the region.

The Rev. Dr. Alan D. Cutter entered the kitchen on July 1 eager to see God’s blessings and opportunities continue to unfold for the region, and especially for the Reformed witness that the Presbyterian Church (USA) can offer.

Cutter is charged with the administrative and spiritual nurture of a presbytery where half of the congregations suffered devestation or damage from two hurricanes and a flood nearly a year ago. Communities are exhausted. No one escaped the trauma from needing help, giving help or both. Hope glimmers with each new prayer, volunteer or dollar offered toward recovery. Cutter says thank you and please keep them all coming. So what kind of person would answer the call to such a place and time? Read the full article from the Presbyterian Sun.
