no where (that I could find) are the estimated 2,500,000 defensive uses of firearms mentioned in this report. Those 2,500,000 defensive uses represent a huge number of violent events stopped or prevented. An estimated number of 4-8 peripheral people are adversely affected by every violent act which could escalate the number of people saved from a violent act to more than 10,000,000. Exact numbers of the times a violent act is stopped or prevented are difficult to determine because in almost all cases they are not reported and may be as innocuous as exposing a handgun still in its holster.
The article goes into extensive details about the damage a gun can do, while totally ignoring the lives saved, rapes and robbery prevented and lives not destroyed.
